As some of you know, I suffer from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, and Migraines.
I wrote the following poem whilst on a 3 month sabbatical in Greece, looking for our next Bliss International Enterprise Venture. Even in the most beautiful places, during the most exciting times in ones life, pain can take over. This poem is for all of you who have suffered, who do suffer and who will suffer. Because for most of us pain is a part of life. It just ‘Is’.
The Irony of pain
By Zoë Watson
The irony of pain
Is that it can be beautiful and ugly
At the same time
The eyes close to the outward
The pain draws me inward
Where has the shining light of the warmth gone?
It feels still, like the holding of the breath
Waiting
Is this a spiritual and emotional growth spurt?
Or the purgatory of karma I can never understand?
Tears flow as the fog descends
Keep looking up
Visualise the light
Feel the warmth
Hear the laughter
Aquiesce but don’t give up
Let the tears flow but don’t look down
When the fog lifts everything looks different
New Eyes See
New thoughts emerge
Everything tastes fresher, smells clearer
A slightly different consciousness
The beauty that can only be seen by someone
Who has experienced the ugly
From the ugliness of pain
Emerges the beauty of the soul
Much Love, Zoë
